Obituary of Vernard Cline

Cline, Vernard P. "Tubby", age 89, of Hamburg, May 19, 2015. Husband of the late Betty (Duchman) and Rose Fanning. Father of Connie (Dick) Zittel and Barbara (Charles) Martin. Grandfather of Richard (Stacey, DDS) Zittel, Michele (Bryan) Schmitt, Alicia (Patrick) Hilmey and Molly (Joshua) Tripp. Brother of Robert (Joyce) and the late Elmer (late Annamay) Cline and Mildred (late Walter) Hillman. Also survived by nine great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home, Inc., 21 Pierce Avenue, Hamburg, Friday 2-4 & 7-9 PM, where a Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 23 at 12 Noon. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to Hamburg Volunteer Fire Department P.O. Box 82 Hamburg, New York 14075. Tubby was a WW II Army veteran and former POW. He received the Combat Inf. Badge, Bronze Star and the POW Medal. Tubby also was a member of Hamburg Volunteer Fire Department which named him Fireman of the Year in 1964, American Legion Post 527 and Hamburg Township Post 1419 VFW. Tubby was a retired crane foreman in the electrical department at Bethlehem Steel.
