Penn Senior School in York, Pennsylvania where he developed a love of music, which led him to Ithaca College,

where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education in 1958. Bob continued his education at the

University of Michigan, earning his master’s degree in music in 1961. Bob’s job search brought him to Eden, New

York where he was hired as the Band Director at Eden High School. Bob met the love of his life, Marian, in Eden

where she was employed as a math teacher. Bob and Marian got married on December 29, 1962. In 1964, Bob was

hired as the Band Director at Hamburg High School, Marian’s alma mater. Bob’s commitment to the Hamburg Music

Department over his 34-year career provided excellent music experiences to thousands of young people in the

Hamburg community resulting in the honor of receiving the first “Distinguished Educator” Hall of Fame award from

the Hamburg Alumni Association. Bob retired in 1998 and enjoyed many years traveling with Marian, visiting his

children and grandchildren, watching various sports, particularly the Buffalo Bills, and playing the trombone in local

bands such as 23 Skidoo, the Pete Ciraolo Band and Joe Baudo’s Big Band at the Sportsmen’s Tavern. One of
