I met Kent through the building of the Seneca Chief. He was the first person I got to know and was the nicest man. Kent was a wonderful person and shared his excitement with so many of the volunteers. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Dave Barton

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Kent. I worked alongside him on a few of the boat build projects at the BMC. He was one of the reasons that made volunteering so much fun. Kent always had a witty comment or joke and was fun to be around. It’s going to be difficult not seeing him at the shop. My condolences go to his family at this difficult time. Kent was a great guy and will be sorely missed.

Kent, volunteering to docent and help build the Seneca Chief was what brought me into your world, and that world definitely involved all things BMC. We are a better organization for it, and are all better people for knowing you. Truer people cannot be found. I've always considered you a friend, mentor, optimist, biker, skier and occasional consumer of a "barley sandwich". Rest easy my friend.

Like most of the comments I’ve read the Seneca Chief was instrumental in forming a good but too short of friendship with Kent. He was an inspiration for those who got to know him, friendly, knowledgeable, sincere, and helpful, a stand up guy. When I volunteered for the canal boat project I was assigned to work with Kent. His knowledge and guidance were immeasurable. We shared many hours together on the Seneca Chief and the Churchill. His personality and whit turned into friendship. We enjoyed many similar interests, boats, gardening, country and bluegrass music, and beer. He lived life to the fullest. God, now grant him eternal rest. My sincere condolences to his family, Jerry Krug

I am deeply sorry to hear of Kent's passing He was one of the first people I met when I started to work on the Seneca Chief . Always very helpful and supportive Also had a great sense of humor. He will definitely be missed. My sympathy and thoughts go out to his family.

My husband Jim and I are away from Buffalo until late April, and so cannot be there for Kent's memorial services. But we will miss him very much. I docented alongside of him since 2020 on the Buffalo Maritime Center "Seneca Chief" commemorative boat-building project, and he was a mainstay there, riding into town and then home on his recumbent bike (I sometime thought he slept there!), helping oversee volunteer construction crews through every detail, knowledgeably entertaining thousands of visitors, sparking a coffee or a beer run, doing critical backup work providing the C.L. Churchill Tugboat. He seemed an indefatigable source of energy, good cheer, and know-how. Fair winds, and happy sails, Kent.

Kent was such a inspirational person to me. I met him when I began working on the Seneca Chief , through the maritime center. He was always there to show a better way of doing something. I always felt he was keeping his eye on me so I didnt hurt myself. He lit up the room with his smile and his humor. I had the pleasure of going to his birthday celebration eclipse. I am so glad that God put him in my life. God Bless Myra Kaiser

I wish I personally known Kent. Many years ago, I was a courier at PJS, & Felicia was my boss. In the years I worked at the company, Felicia talked many times about her husband. She mentioned how devoted of a worker & husband he was. She also mentioned to me how polite & considerable he was towards others. I'm happy they enjoyed 50 years of marriage together! May he rest in peace.
