Obituary of Deacon Robert J. Moses

Moses, Deacon Robert J., age 83 of Hamburg, January 17, 2017. Son of the late James and Anna Moses. Brother of Drexel (Ginny), Thomas (Mary Lou), Margaret (Leigh Newkirk) and Harland (Terry) Moses. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services took place from the DONALD M. DEMMERLEY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 21 Pierce Avenue, Hamburg on Saturday, January 21 at 9:30 AM and from SS. Peter & Paul RC Church, 66 East Main Street, Hamburg at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours were on Friday, January 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Flowers gratefully declined. Entombment in Birchwood Mausoleum of Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo. Memorials may be made to Hamburg Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 82, Hamburg, New York 14075. Robert was born in Olean, New York and grew up in Eldred, PA where he graduated from Eldred High School in 1951. He attended St. Bonaventure University. He received his Certificate of Accounting from MacMaster Pain College in San Francisco. He also attended the University of Wisconsin in the Bank Administration Institute. Robert was employed by The Peoples Bank in Hamburg where he began as a teller and was promoted to an Auditor Position with the newly named Fleet Bank. He retired after 31 years. He then became the full time bookkeeper at SS. Peter & Paul RC Church in Hamburg for 11 years. Deacon Robert was ordained October 17, 1982 at St. Joseph Cathedral in Buffalo by the Most Rev. Edward D, Head D.D. Bob served as adjunct Deacon to SS. Peter & Paul and volunteered for 14 years at Buffalo General Hospital in Pastoral Care. He also brought the Eucharist to residents of Autumn View Health Care Facility in Hamburg, NY. Bob was a member and past Director of Hamburg Council 2220 K of C and Msgr. Toomey Assembly 4th Degree.
