Obituary of Irma E. MacKinnon
MacKinnon, Irma E. (nee Duggan), age 78 of Ninety Six, South Carolina, formerly of Hamburg, New York, entered into rest on December 10, 2020. Devoted companion of Joseph D. MacKinnon; daughter of Irma Martin and the late Raymond Duggan; beloved mother of Edward and Deborah Urban, Mary (Richard) Mosgeller, William Urban, Christine and Alexis MacKinnon; loving grandmother of Sebastian (Jolene) Zirilli Jr., Jeffrey Colliver, April and Derek Mosgeller, Stephanie (Justin) Borgman and Steven Urban. Great-grandmother of Sean Nelligan and Theodor Borgman. She was the dearly loved oldest sister of Raymond (Arlene) Duggan, who predeceased her, John (Karen) Duggan, Helen (Eugene) Szkutak, Catherine Bruce, Jane (Lawrence) Rozborski, Anne (Paul) Hartel, Sandra (Gary) Pangrazio and Karen (Jerry) Bernfeld, as well as aunt to eighteen nieces and nephews. Irma attended Baker Victory High School and continued educating herself through her lifetime, amassing college credits and certifications at every opportunity. Irma had an incredible work ethic, starting from a young age when she made ice cream and worked the counter at her family's business, Duggan's Dairy. She was an excellent cook and was involved with the operation of several restaurants. She worked for the New York State Thruway Authority, initially as a Toll Collector, also as a Service Area Supervisor and had been promoted to Director of Training prior to her retirement. In her free time, Irma ran a tax preparation business, spent many hours canning pickles and making jams and jellies, read voraciously and traveled at every opportunity, including visits to family out of state, Cedar Point, horse tracks around the country, and taking an epic trip to Ireland. She was always quick to smile, and that is only one of many things about her that will be deeply missed by all who have been blessed by memories of her. Family and friends called at the DONALD M. DEMMERLEY FUNERAL HOME, 21 Pierce Avenue, Hamburg on Tuesday, December 22 from 5-7 PM. Please share condolences at www.demmerleyfuneralhome.com.
