Obituary of Melvin Carl Hamann

Hamann, Melvin C. "Mel", age 78 of Boston, New York, February 28, 2021. Devoted husband of Ona Lee (nee Derx) Hamann. Loving father of Douglas (Tina) and Tom Hamann and the late Sandra (Garret) Hoffmann. Grandfather of Zebadiah, Gerhardt (Emily Puccio), Justus and Joelle Hoffmann, Luke and Nigel Hamann. Brother of Shirley (Kenneth) Haberman and the late Robert (Sophie) Hamann. Son of the late Arthur and Helen (nee Doll) Hamann. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Mel's Life will be held at the convenience of the family. Mel was a 1960 graduate of Lancaster High School. He went to Alfred State University where he received an Associate Degree in Business Agriculture and then to Iowa State College where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Agriculture. He worked 19 years for Continental Coffee as a sales representative and later worked 14 years for the Orchard Park School District as a bus driver. Mel was a member of Churchhill Memorial United Methodist Church in Boston, New York where he was a trustee. He served on a variety of committees, helping with fish fries and in other ways to support his church.
