Obituary of Douglas Nichols

NICHOLS - Douglas G. Of Hamburg, NY, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2023. Beloved husband of 61 years to Joan (nee Cannon) Nichols; devoted father of Sara (Neal) Eisenstein, Susan Hoellig, James, Timothy (Julie) and Douglas Nichols Jr.; cherished grandfather of Justin, Nicholas, Austin, Tyler, Collin, Kevin, Alexandra and Carter; dear brother of Stuart (Ann) Nichols; also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents, Stuart and Sara (nee Gilbert) Nichols. Doug was a graduate of Colgate University with a Bachelor’s in Geology. He owned and operated Dymanex Search, an executive recruiting firm in Hamburg. He loved the outdoors and was an integral part of developing Hampton Brook Woods Wildlife Management Area to preserve open spaces. He also chaired the Conservation Board in the town of Hamburg for many years. His memberships included St. Bernadette Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. No prior visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 5, 2023 at St Bernadette Church, 5930 S. Abbott Rd. Orchard Park, NY at 9 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Doug’s memory may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home.
