Age 44 of Amherst, NY formerly of Eden, NY passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2023. He is survived by
his wife Kristen (nee Shutt) Gier. Gary was a devoted father to Kyla Gier; loving son of Gary and Kathryn
(nee Wittmeyer) Gier; dear brother of Karen Hensen; caring uncle of Brooke and Paige Hensen; also
survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. Gary was employed at M&T Bank as a
paralegal. He was a 1997 graduate of Eden High School and was a former member of the Eden Reserve
Police and Eden Emergency Squad. Gary had an innate ability to befriend anyone he met and always
went out of his way to help others. His smile could be seen across the room and his laugh was
contagious. Lastly, Gary was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Friends may call at the Donald M. Demmerley
Funeral Home, 21 Pierce Ave. Hamburg, NY on Friday from 2-7 PM. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated
on Saturday at St. Mary’s Church, 8175 E. Eden Rd Eden, NY at 10:30 AM. Memorials in his memory may
