Obituary of Joseph P. Riordan, Sr.

Riordan, Sr. – Joseph P.

Age 88, entered into rest on Saturday, August 5, 2023. He leaves behind his loving wife Helen E. (nee McGuire) Riordan, of 61 years; his dear children Joseph P. Riordan, Jr. (late), Jule Ann (Omar) Baradi, and Lisa Ann (Seth) McCurdy; along with eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Dr. Daniel and Dr. Arthur Riordan and a sister, Nancy Yoviene. Joseph was an electrical station operator for Niagara Mohawk Energy (National Grid) for 40 years.  

He was a 3rd-degree member of the Knights of Columbus where he enjoyed playing cards.  He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, St Vincent DePaul Society, Hamburg Golf Course. In his retirement years Joseph served as a Eucharistic Minister and Spiritual Care team member on behalf of SS Peter & Paul Church. In his spare time, Joseph enjoyed playing chess, dominos, tennis, golf, painting, gardening and was an avid “do it yourselfer”.  

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Fri. Sept. 1, 2023 at SS Peter & Paul Church, 66 E. Main St. in Hamburg at 10 AM followed by burial at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, and luncheon at the Knights all are welcome.
