Doug, Taryn and others
I am so truly sorry for the loss of Mr. DelBello. I am so sorry i was unable to give you my condolences face to face. Mr. DelBello was always my favorite soccer coach and he and I remained friends all these years. He had an unmistakable voice and laugh. One that was both calming and silly. I hope he is resting peacefully with his wife and Lauren. Prayers and love to you and yours.

Our deepest condolences to the DelBello family. Doug was the consummate family man and friend. We shared both good and bad times with Doug. Although we lost touch with Doug over the years, we will always remember him fondly. We know he deeply missed Kathy and Lauren and hope he is now at peace now that he has joined them.

I only had the pleasure of knowing Doug for the past few years when he joined our fathers support group. He was one of the kindest and nicest men I have ever met. We will all miss him greatly and our group will not be the same. My deepest condolences to the entire Delbello family and may God bless you all.

My golf and football buddy. I'll miss our weekend morning talks at 6:00 AM. You were such a gentle and likeable guy. We had so many good laughs. Most of all: You were the kind of person that any father would be happy for you to marry his daughter. I won't forget you.

Doug was a good man.
I had many interactions with him over the years, dating back to when he was coaching Doug Jr. in the Hamburg Junior Baseball League at the same time I was coaching a time in the age 9-10 boys division.
More conversations and feedback came when I worked at "The Sun" newspaper and covered various events and activities in Hamburg, including when Doug Jr. was playing various sports, including baseball and football.
He was a solid member of the informal coffee club that included Tom "T.C." Collins and they held court and talked sports, politics, current events, etc. They originally met at the former Great Harvest Bread Company, and later moved their twice-a-week gatherings across the street to Sweet Pea Bakery.
Just a solid human being and someone I always enjoyed speaking with.
RIP...

I loved Doug. He taught me many lessons about fatherhood, being a great husband and son-in-law, and just how to live. The last few years have been so hard for him; I take comfort in knowing that he's at peace with Kathy and Lauren. Thoughts and prayers...

My sincere condolences to family. Many years ago Doug hired me at People, inc. which started my own 30 plus year career. He was the kindest man. A wonderful caring supervisor and kind to the people he served. Rest in peace. I have always remembered Doug’s kindness.

Doug was a friend for over 50 years. We both worked at Buffalo raceway in the summer. We played baseball for Mr. Utter at Hamburg High school. We talked about the infield that we were part of as the Italian connection: Tubb (Todoro), Delbello, Mombrea, and Vara. I will miss our talks we had at coffee club on Wednesday and Saturday. Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed.

This was a tough one for me. Doug was not only one of the good guys, but simple the best. We played legion baseball and Hamburg High ball together. Doug was an awesome second baseman and a great spirit on the field. My last time spent with him was our 50 year reunion. He was wearing a Hamburg football cap. I was going to the varsity football game that Saturday so I asked him if they sold them at the game. He said he was pretty sure they didn't. A few minutes later he came up and tapped me on the shoulder and handed me his hat. I said no, I can't take your hat. His response was " yes, you can...I want you to have it to take back to Texas. THAT, was Dougie. He had such a heart. I was so honored that he gave that hat to me, and will forever treasure it. Always happy, always smiling. I'm going to miss that guy. Rest in Peace Doug. Here's hoping I can get my sorry butt into heaven and we can toss the ole ball around a few more times.

My sincere condolences to Doug’s family and friends . I remember Doug since he was one of the first people I met when moving to Hamburg at the age of 5. We were in kindergarten together and I lived on So Lake St not far from the Delbellos where we’d often play in the lot next to their house. He was always a great guy, even when he beat me out for the second base spot on the high school baseball team. I ended up a pole vaulter as a result! Even though we weren’t close as adults it was always great to see him at reunions and I am saddened to hear of his passing.

I only knew Doug a short time. I had the Privilege of golfing with Doug and young Doug this past summer. Doug was manager of the league at 18 mile golf course in Hamburg. He was warm, friendly, and witty. I know Doug experience the losses of love ones; however, he continued to have such a positive outlook. I knew of the times Doug helped my father-in-law, who was an amputee, on many occasions. He was just that kind of a great guy, willing to help anyone. I wish the Delbello Family Peace at this difficult time.

Please accept our sympathies. Doug coached our sons in baseball and we have great memories of those games. They learned the game, but more importantly, they learned about teamwork and fair play. He was a classy guy in every sense of the word.

SR. Was such a special man, nothing riled him. He was always about fairness. He always had a fresh funny new joke for a family event. His character and above all his devotion to his family, children, and grandchildren should be emulated by all. This loss is a huge blow for us. He made this family better and will be missed beyond words.
