Obituary of Dennis P. Igoe

Igoe-Dennis Patrick

Age 79, of Hamburg,  NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 2, 2023. Dennis was born in Buffalo, NY on January 24, 1944, the son of the late Gerard and Olive (nee DuFrane) Igoe. He graduated from Bishop Timon H.S. in 1962 and continued his education at Canisius College where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in History and English, and a Master of Science Degree in Education. He continued his education at the University of Buffalo, where he received an EdD in Educational Administration. Dennis was also a SGT in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Dennis taught with the Holland Central School District and spent his career with Orchard Park Central School District. At Orchard Park Central Schools he served as a 7th grade social studies teacher, an Assistant Principal, the Director of Pupil Services and the Assistant Superintendent. He retired in 2001 with 32 years of service. Dennis was passionate about history and loved to read nonfiction. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time and traveling with his family. Dennis is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Helen (nee Codd) Igoe; two loving children, Jennifer (Todd) Richter and Matthew (Tammy) Igoe; 8 cherished grandchildren, Ellen (Will) Raimondo, Mary Margaret Aroune, Eli Richter, Joshua (Allison) O’Brien, Allyssa (Stuart) Maples, Sarah, Lauren and Matthew Igoe.; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 siblings, Joseph (Theresa) and Kevin (Marybeth) Igoe and Mary Ellen (Mark) Godios; also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James (Jennifer) and Francis (Carol) Igoe and a sister, Ann Marie (late Richard) Fitzer. Family and friends may call on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023 from 4-7 PM at Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home, 21 Pierce Ave. Hamburg, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at SS Peter & Paul Church, 66 E. Main St, Hamburg at 12 o’clock.
