Virginia L Bates

July, 16, 1936 to October 17, 2023

Age 87 of Hamburg, New York passed away on Tuesday, October 17th at her residence.  She was the beloved wife of the late William P. Bates for 27 years.  She is survived by her loving son William E. Bates, her cherished grandson August W. (Kaitlyn Osswald) Bates and her sister-in-law Eileen Parks. She was predeceased by her parents, Ralph C. and Dorothy (nee Kenney) Parks and her dear brother Ralph Parks. 

She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration at Houghton College and then worked from 1966-2022 in the banking industry, specifically for Peoples Bank and Bank of America. She was active in her community and was a faithful member of SS Peter & Paul Church, also involved with the League of Women Voters in Hamburg, served as a member and president of the Quota Club helping the hearing impaired and victims of domestic violence and was a cherished senior volunteer at Union Pleasant Elementary School.

As per her wishes, services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Her arrangements have been entrusted to the Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home, 21 Pierce Ave. Hamburg, NY.  Please share condolences at www.demmerleyfuneralhome.com
