Smolinski- James A. “Smoker”
8/30/1938-4/21/2024
A lifelong resident of N. Boston, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2024 in the home he
built for his family. Married 61 yrs to the love of his life Kathy (nee Hunter) Smolinski; proud father of
James A. (Nancy) Smolinski Jr., Ronald (Jackie) Smolinski and Robyn (Jeff) McChesney. He was a
treasured “Papa” to six grandchildren, Abbey (Dan) Boutwell, Jacob Smolinski, Erica (Chris) Aitken, Kate
Lee-Pelt, Steven Stum and John Stum and three great – grandchildren, Teddy, Pippa and Cole. Jim was a
faith filled man who was loved by many brother and sister in laws, nephews, nieces and friends. He was
preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose (nee Wierzbic) Smolinski and two brothers, Robert and
Donald Smolinski. Jim worked as an operating engineer and master mechanic for I.U.O.E. Local # 17 for
more than 55 yrs retiring in 2000. He proudly served his country in the 3 rd Infantry of the U.S. Army,
had a successful racing career, was an avid hunter and made wine for many to enjoy. Relatives and friends
may call at the Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home, 21 Pierce Ave. Hamburg on Thursday, April 25th from 4-7 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at St. Mary’s Oratory, 8175 E. Eden Rd. East Eden, NY at 12:30 PM.
