Of Boston, NY passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024.He grew up and was raised in Langford, NY. Beloved husband of 65 years of Jacqueline (nee Schlehr) Schmitz; loving father of Mark (Richelle) Schmitz; dear brother of Jane Schmitz; also survived by many nieces and nephews; he is predeceased by his parents, William and Mildred Schmitz, a son, Christopher Schmitz, a sister, Ruth Schuster and a brother, Robert Schmitz .Family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 3-6 PM at the Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home 21 Pierce Ave. Hamburg, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Oct 3 at St John the Baptist RC Church 6895 Boston Cross Rd, Boston, NY at 10 AM. Please assemble at the church. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Dick retired from S-S Electric Repair Shop in Buffalo, NY. He was very active and a former President of the Patchin Volunteer Fire Co., where he established many friends and considered them his extended family , he also was a huge Bills fan.
